Around The Bay

Chicago-based Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen is now open at International Plaza. The restau-rant focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients, with fresh tuna flown in from Hawaii; free-range, antibiotic-free poultry from a small farm in Arkansas; salmon from the Faroe Islands and hormone-free, grass-fed beef. Try the signature quinoa and black bean Veggie Burger, one of seven gourmet burgers on the menu.

Everything you’ve heard about The Lure is true. This trendy new lounge on St. Pete’s high-energy Central Avenue features grasshopper on its menu—a taco with avocado, spicy jicama slaw and chapuline, and grasshopper from Thailand said to be crunchy and airy. There’s also tapas and sushi, as well as specialty Tiki drinks, and pool tables for a game of billiards.

Coco Chanel famously said, “Fashion is the art, you are the canvas.” The slogan not only decorates the door of a new women’s boutique in St. Petersburg, but reflects its name, which is appropriately, Canvas. Co-owners Shelby Pletcher and Michelle Burtch have put together a nice collection of designer dresses, long skirts, scarfs, leather purses and unique jewelry.
