    On May 30, 2026, the community will gather at Al Lopez Park in Tampa for the 5K for Foster Kids, a purposeful event dedicated to supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community. This morning run serves as a vital fundraiser for the Children's Network of Hillsborough County, an organization committed to improving the lives of at-risk children and families through compassionate care and essential services. Participants have the opportunity to transform their miles into meaningful change, with all proceeds directly benefiting programs that provide stability and hope for children in the dependency system. ​The race itself is a professionally timed 5K managed by Victory Sports, ensuring a high-quality experience for both competitive runners and casual walkers. The course takes full advantage of the scenic, shaded paths within Al Lopez Park, offering a beautiful backdrop for a Saturday morning of fitness and philanthropy. With chip timing in place, every participant will receive an accurate assessment of their performance as they cross the finish line, making it a great event for those looking to set a personal record or simply enjoy a healthy outing for a great cause. ​To celebrate the efforts of the participants, an awards ceremony will follow the completion of the race. Recognition will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three performers in various age groups, ensuring that runners of all stages of life have a chance to be honored for their achievement. Whether you are aiming for a podium finish or participating to show your support for foster care awareness, the 5K for Foster Kids promises a morning of community spirit, athleticism, and heartfelt impact.

  • Tampa Bay United Golf Fundraiser

    TBU Fundraiser Tampa Bay United is proud to announce its inaugural golf tournament, set to take place on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the prestigious Eagles Golf Course in Tampa, Florida. 50% of all money raised through the golf tournament will provide children from families with demonstrated financial need the opportunity to play soccer, while the remaining 50% will go toward Tampa Bay United’s general fund. Tampa Bay United has long been a cornerstone of the community, nurturing young talent and offering opportunities for athletes of all ages. The event, which promises a day of friendly competition and community support, is made possible by the generous partnership of AdventHealth, who is the presenting sponsor for the tournament.     The Tampa Bay Orchid Society will host its upcoming orchid auction on June 20, 2026, at Good Shep-herd Lutheran Church, offering plant enthusiasts and collectors the opportunity to bid on more than 250 orchids and related items. Experienced and favored by all, auctioneer Laura Newton is both entertaining and informative. Come for a good time and leave with beautiful plants. The auction will feature a wide selection of plants for both experienced growers and those new to orchid collecting. Attendees will have the chance to browse and bid on a diverse assortment of orchids, including unique varieties and plants suitable for a range of growing conditions. Plant preview starts at 9:30 am. Auction begins at 10:00 am. Credit cards are accepted. “We’re excited to welcome longtime orchid growers as well as people discovering orchids for the first time,” said a representative of the Tampa Bay Orchid Society. “With more than 250 plants available, there will be opportunities for attendees to find something special to add to their collections.” Plant preview starts at 9:30 am.     The City of Tampa is celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with one of the largest Fourth of July events in Tampa Bay — Liberty by the Bay at Julian B. Lane Park. This free, family-friendly waterfront celebration will feature a 250-drone light show honoring America’s 250th birthday, followed by a fireworks finale, along with an afternoon and evening full of activities, live entertainment, food, and fun for all ages.
