Ken Falana

Ken Falana describes himself as a colorist whose strongest inspiration for his images and color is based on remembered experiences of growing up in rural Central Florida and the Gulf Coast. His works of art span over 60 years, from early works that include a series of silkscreen and collage prints that commented on the Civil Rights movement of the sixties to realistic graphite drawings. Stop in to see this body of important work.

The bewitching Stevie Nicks is the perfect musical note to strike on this halloween holiday weekend. Her classic vocals and her prolific songwriting are the soundtrack of a generation. An opportunity to see her is always one that should be taken.

Halloween Hustle
Sloppy Joe’s on the Beach Treasure Island Florida

Enjoy a “Ghoulish Good Time” on the beach and run for a good cause. It’s the annual Halloween Hustle 5k Fun Run and Kid’s Dash, followed by the MONSTER BASH. There’s an after party at Waves at the Bilmar, and even a beach clean-up for your environmentally responsible side. Costumes are encouraged and there will be contests and prizes. Funds will benefit the Treasure Island Chamber and the Beaches Environmental Action.

Merl Reagle’s puzzles enjoy a huge public following as they have appeared in many national publications. It’s sure to be a fun challenge for all. 3rd Annual “La Luchaween”

Just a reminder about this very cool event: Classic silent horror films are shown in historic Hough hall, while your favorite local jazz trailblazers, La Lucha, provide the score. Guest host for the evening is our very own resident movie star, Eugenie Bondurant, who appears in the upcoming Marvel horror film Werewolf by Night. She’ll guide us through the evening with camp-like Elvira realness, and then head downstairs to Side Door Cabaret for a fabulous after party. October 29th 7pm Tickets and information here

Read No More: St. Pete Murder Murder House – Wordier Than Thou

I have written and performed for this event, and I can tell you, it’s an incredibly entertaining experience. Tour a series of short, scary plays to learn about the hauntings and history of the St. Pete Murder House. Attendees will tour a St. Pete home where each room will feature a short scary play produced by teams of local writers and actors in this Wordier Than Thou take on the classic haunted house. These are immersive, walking appropriate for ages 13 and older. The home’s address will be shared after tickets are purchased.No refunds. Tickets can be exchanged for a different date/time if space is still available.

Steinway Piano Series: Ghadeer Abaido
USF Barness Recital Hall, Tampa

Beautiful Music is something we all need. The USF Steinway Series is an inspired way to meet that need. Palestinian pianist Ghadeer Abaido performs a multimedia recital inspired by childhood themes, with music by Stravinsky, Schumann, Liszt, Hiromi, Matt Mason, and Stormtrap Asifeh.

Pied Piper’s Haunted Carnival Works

Come one, come all to the 2nd Annual Haunted Carnival Experience! With 300,000 square feet of terrifying Carnival Rides and Nostalgic Sugary Eats like cotton candy, funnel cakes, and elephant ears. It will be an experience like none other. Come early with the fam and take a photo on the Ferris Wheel or Merry-go-round with downtown Tampa in the background.

Verdi’s Macbeth (in 90 minutes)

It’s the opening weekend of this long anticipated classical concert series in a beautiful park setting. Experience one of the greatest stories ever told and retold, based on historic Scottish characters, explained in a pre-performance lecture by the Scottish American Society of Dunedin.  Sung in Italian with English explanation throughout with a Q&A after the performance with the panel & performers.

Last year’s inaugural event was so successful, that Halloween on Central is back once again. It’s two miles of tricks, treats, activities, vendors, and entertainment. This family friendly, car-free Halloween market covers 22 blocks in the Edge and Central districts, with special events happening at many participating businesses. Car traffic will be diverted, so stroll at your leisure, and ensure safe trick or treating for the kids. It’s a great way to spend Halloween Day with the family.
