Weekend Top 10: Lizzo, Laughs in Spades, More Fast Boats, and Blue Wine

It’s officially Autumn in Tampa Bay, and though the thermometer has yet to catch up, Fall is definitely in the air – on stage, on the sports field, and in great Fall events. Here are some amazing things to do this weekend. Enjoy!

I don’t know about you, but the truth has almost always gotten me in trouble. Thank goodness someone has written a play about “the perils of honesty” that I might learn the lesson. It’s Halloween night and after sharing some strange blue Peruvian wine, two couples experience those perils first-hand. Can their relationships survive what is revealed? Baystar Clearwater Offshore Nationals

Spectators and race fans from all over come to town especially for this event that features the sleekest, fastest, speed boats around. There are 3 days of events, including fireworks, parades, and parties, with the main event taking place on Sunday. There’s even a sunset market at Pier 60 on Saturday from 6-9pm.

Speaking of History with Kerry Kriseman

The Heritage Village Author Talk Series has seen some of our most beloved local icons share their stories and experiences. Former First Lady of St. Petersburg, Kerry Kriseman is certainly no exception. Sharing anecdotes from her very successful memoir, Accidental First Lady, Kriseman talks about her life, both public and private, during husband Rick Kriseman’s
eight year mayoral tenure.

This is such a cool idea! 5 teams of artists will face each other in a furious battle to the paint. The winning team will be named St. Pete’s very first Art Battle Champion! And everyone gets a vote. Teams will cover 8×8 walls with modern masterpieces, and there will even be one wall for the crowd to paint. There will also be over 80 vendors and food trucks. Everything will be set up under the overpass at Central Ave & 18th St. S. Fun for the whole fam.

The Florida Orchestra Pops in the Park

For almost 30 years, The Florida Orchestra has presented this wonderful gift to Tampa Bay – a fantastic free concert in Vinoy Park complete with fireworks. It’s become one of the most beloved traditions in our community. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, a picnic feast and the whole family to commune with neighbors and classical music. We’re celebrating TFO’s 55th birthday, so it’s just that much more special. Free admission.

SNL alum and Emmy award winning actor, comedian, David Spade, comes to historic Tampa Theatre for two shows this weekend as part of his Catch Me Inside tour. Known, not just for SNL, but for his movie partnership with Chris Farley, Joe Dirt, and the wise cracking character, Dennis Finch, on the TV hit Just Shoot Me. In a nutshell, he’s a smart ass – and we love him for it.
