Two beautiful exhibits open at CAM this weekend to usher in the Fall season (or at least urge it closer).
Jesse Murray: Rising and a joint exhibition, Necessary Angels: Jesse Murray and Lisa Yuskavage. These concurrent exhibits showcase work by Murray (1948-1993), and Yuskavage, his lifelong friend, and fellow Yale Arts School grad. Read an interview by Yuskavage on Murray here.

 The Tampa Bay Strength & Fitness Expo/Kids Zone

There are multiple events for the whole family to enjoy at this year’s Expo – Crossfit events, USPA (Power lifting) Florida State Championships, and even a body-building competition. In the Kids Zone, kids can enjoy a bounce house obstacle course, face painting and healthy snacking. Staying active and having fun while doing it is a recipe for a great weekend for the whole family.

11th Annual Great St. Pete Cupcake Contest

The search for St. Pete’s best cupcake is ON. Competitors will be battling for bragging rights, local acclaim and artist designed awards in a number of categories. Judging will be done by a panel, but there will be people’s choice awards given as well. Cupcake lovers can purchase timed tickets online that will give them access to purchase 12-24 bite-sized bits of baked heaven and give them the right to vote via digital survey. Winners announced at 3pm.

SPCA Tampa Bay Clear the Shelters Adoption Event
SPCA, Tampa Bay, Largo

Help SPCA find forever homes for over 80 dogs, cats, and other adorable critters at the Largo shelter this Saturday. The adoption fees for this 8/27 event are dramatically reduced to only $8.27. Since the Clear the Shelters campaign began nationwide in 2015, over 700,000 pets have been adopted and over $500,000 raised to help care for our beloved furry (or feathered, or scaly), friends.
