Step onto the red carpet, Tampa Bay—because something truly special just happened in Belleair Bluffs.
On April 11th, the spotlight shined bright at the 4th Annual Banyan Spring Dance for Neurodiverse Adults, an unforgettable evening where Hollywood glamour met heart, community, and purpose. This year, we had the privilege of experiencing it firsthand, Molly and I were honored to serve as volunteer dance partners, making the night even more meaningful.
Guests arrived in true Hollywood fashion: dressed to impress, stepping out of a stretch limousine and onto a red-carpet entrance at Belleair Bluffs City Hall. Inside, the energy was electric. Music filled the room, laughter echoed across the dance floor, and everyone was dancing like no one was watching.
From glamorous photo ops to spontaneous dance circles, the night delivered on every level.
A standout moment of the evening was welcoming Zack Gottsagen, beloved for his role in The Peanut Butter Falcon, (if you haven’t watched it yet, now you have to). Zack was presented with the Keys to the City of Belleair Bluffs by City Commissioner Suzy Sofer—and then did exactly what you’d hope: joined everyone on the dance floor, smiling, posing for photos, and fully embracing the spirit of the night.
The experience was elevated even further with:
- Live caricature drawings by artist Lars Robinson
- Specialty drinks from Tampa’s Coffee Uniting People (CUP)
- A spread of hors d’oeuvres, healthy snacks, and refreshments
But beyond the glamour, this event represents something much bigger.
Banyan Odyssey was born from a question many families quietly ask: What happens next?
After graduation, many neurodiverse adults face a gap—limited opportunities for continued growth, independence, and meaningful social engagement. For one Tampa Bay family, that reality sparked a vision.
They imagined a place that felt like a college experience—safe, engaging, and full of opportunity. A place with housing, job pathways, creative outlets, and a built-in community.
That vision became the Banyan Odyssey.
