At the risk of being labeled a jinx, let me just quote mlb.com:
“In postseason history, teams winning Game 1 of any best-of-seven series have gone on to win the series 114 of 179 times (64%).”
Last night in San Diego, the Tampa Bay Rays won Game 1 of their best-of-seven American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros.
Which means that, if history repeats itself and the Game 1 winners win the ALCS, they’ll go on to play in another seven-game series — the World Series.
Stanley Cup. World Series. Super Bowl.
Could there actually be a Tampa Bay Trifecta?
Not answering that one — you know, the jinx thing. But still….
