Well, that didn’t go so well, did it?
Actually, the first game in the ALDS wasn’t all that bad a showing for the Rays. Ji-Man put it to Gerrit Cole (again), prompting the pitcher to walk him intentionally. Randy Arozarena kept up his hard-hitting ways. And even though Blake Snell only made it through five innings, the Rays kept the score close until….
Ouch.
That Giancarlo Stanton grand slam.
In the ninth.
Making it (ulp) 9-3.
We knew this wasn’t going to be easy. Despite the Rays’ success against the Yankees during the regular season, the Yanks weren’t firing on all cylinders, having lost some of their best players to the injured list.
Those players, unfortunately for the Rays, are back.
Tonight, it’s Rays ace Tyler Glasnow vs. a rookie pitcher named Deivi Garcia.
Thoughts and prayers, everybody.
ALDS Series (best of five): Game 2, Rays vs. Yankees, 8:10 p.m., TBS.
