How often does a Christmas show make you want to get up and dance? Seems like it’ll be hard to resist at a revue that mixes traditional Christmas music with the soulful sounds of Motown’s finest, including Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, the Supremes and the Jackson 5.
The Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe’s A Motown Christmas opens a limited engagement tonight at the Sarasota Opera House, brought back by popular demand. The award-winning company is 20 years old this month; its founder and artistic director, Nate Jacobs, created, adapted and directed A Motown Christmas.
Dec. 4 -6 and 18-20, 7:30 p.m., Sarasota Opera House, 61 N. Pineapple Ave., Sarasota, westcoastblacktheatre.org.
