An 11-day community event, the Florida Strawberry Festival celebrates the strawberry harvest of Eastern Hillsborough County. Each year, over 500,000 visitors enjoy the festival’s headline entertainment, youth livestock shows, rides, exhibits of commerce and, of course, its strawberry shortcake.

This year’s headliner lineup is a mix of country mega-stars (Martina McBride, Willie Nelson), pop icons (Alabama, Kool & the Gang), oldies (some of them really oldie) but goodies (Kingston Trio, The Lettermen, Pat Boone!).

2/28-3/10. Tues.-Fri., 12 noon-11 p.m.; weekends, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Admission $10 for adults 13 and up; $5 for children 6-12; children 5 and under free with paid adult admission. (Discounts available if tickets purchased at participating Publix Super Market stores.) Additional costs for headliners, with ticket prices ranging from $20-$55 except for the Kingston Trio, which is free with festival admission. 303 N. Lemon St., Plant City, 813-752-9194, flstrawberryfestival.com

Note: An earlier version of this post listed Steven Tyler as one of the “pop icons” on the roster. The festival announced on Feb. 16 that he had cancelled his Mar. 3 gig; Mike Calta’s Pitbull Toddler is slated to do a free performance in his place. Tickets purchased for Tyler are refundable; contact the festival for details.
