The ever-resourceful St. Petersburg Opera Company and its effervescent maestro Mark Sforzini have come up with an innovative way to stay connected with their audiences and offer some operatic fun in the process: They’re doing a two-night videocast of their acclaimed 2018 production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni followed by Facebook Live post-show chats with Sforzini.

You can link to both videocasts via stpeteopera.org, or via YouTube: Act One tonight after 6 p.m. and Act Two after 6 p.m. on Tuesday. After each act, Sforzini will host a live Q&A on St Pete Opera’s Facebook page beginning at 7:30 p.m. Since one of the great things about St. Pete Opera is their ability not to take themselves too seriously, these conversations should prove to be an entertaining accompaniment to Don Giovanni — which, given all the sex and violence and beautiful music, is plenty entertaining in its own right.
