Leave it to the Tampa International Fringe Festival to find a new twist on an old favorite. A hybrid of costume party and art lesson, the We Are All Bob Ross Paint Party pays tongue-in-cheek homage to the soft-spoken PBS painting teacher who has in the years since his death turned into an affectionately remembered pop icon. The Fringe, taking advantage of a day when no performances have been scheduled, is hosting the party at Bernini, the Italian restaurant in Ybor, which is also offering pre-party discounts on dinner. Here are the details, per the Fringe (note that registration is required if you want to paint):
“Get your fro on — it’s a costume paint party! The event runs from 630-930 p.m. on the third floor of Bernini of Ybor. There is a bar, and there will be areas for drinks, mingling, and mini-painting — this does not have to be reserved. There will also be a main area for painting along with a video with helpers and all supplies included. There are TWO SESSIONS and you must book in advance for these ($20), due to limited availability of space and supplies. Session #1 is at 7 p.m. sharp, and Session #2 is at 8:30 p.m., limited to 30 people per session. Have dinner downstairs beforehand if you like, where entrees & pasta are HALF off until 7 p.m.! Reservations recommended.”
