Registry Tampa Bay

If you’re fascinated by the fantastical creature called the seahorse, head to Tampa’s Sparkman Wharf tonight at 6.

“The Wonderful World of Seahorses” is the subject of this month’s “Spark Talk,” a summer presentation series hosted by the Wharf in partnership with the Florida Aquarium. Intended to “spark” conversations and ideas about nature and animal preservation, the series focuses on Florida’s aquatic and terrestrial animals and ecosystems. Speaking tonight about the seahorse — an aquatic animal that looks kinda terrestrial — is Shawn Garner, senior biologist at the Aquarium.

The talk runs from 6-7 p.m., which means you’ll  have plenty of time to pick up dinner before or after in Sparkman’s Dining Garden, a collection of shipping containers transformed into walk-up eateries run by some of the town’s top chefs, including BT Nguyen (BT in a Box), Jeannie Pierola (edison’s Swigamajig) and Ferrell Alvarez (Gallito Taqueria). Eat like a horse and learn about seahorses — sounds like a nice combo for a Tuesday night.

8/20, 6-7 p.m., Sparkman Wharf, 615 Channelside Drive, Tampa.
