Dance, dragons, Daltrey and all kinds of other HYSTERIA — we call that a weekend!

1. RogueDance: “Triggered: An Evening in a Brain.” The Studio@620’s Dance Hall Festival continues with work from one of the bay area’s most consistently intriguing contemporary dance troupes, RogueDance, led by the effervescent Kellie Harmon. With movement developed by the troupe from conversations about “what we felt very strongly about” (read more in Bill DeYoung’s excellent preview at St. Pete Catalyst), “Triggered” looks to be a trip via dance into several different, very interesting brains. 2. Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience. There are two places you are assured to hear the familiar GoT theme over and over on Sunday night: at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, where an orchestra will be playing the show’s score live in concert with clips and special effects, or on TV, where GoT and HBO are likely to scarf up all the Emmys. I kinda loved GoT Live when it played the Amalie a while back, and that was before it reached its much-discussed season finale. So… Emmys or Amphitheatre? You decide. 3. Spymonkey’s HYSTERIA. Spymonkey, a troupe that’s kept ’em laughing from Montreal to Edinburgh to Australia, comes to the Straz for a seven-week run at the Jaeb with HYSTERIA, a mix of Peter Sellers and Alfred Hitchcock involving “a spooky mansion, a plucky young heroine and a handsome English aristocrat,” plus there’s a flying nun in there somewhere, too. Directed by the guy who introduced Broadway audiences to the brilliant physical comedy of James “Carpool Karaoke” Corden. (Favorite audience warning ever: “Please note that the performance includes partial nudity, smoke, haze, a firearm and ping pong balls are fired across the stage.”) Photo by Sean Dennie. Thurs. 9/19-11/3. 5. Theatre Tampa Bay Awards. The best work from the 2018-19 professional theater season is recognized in a celebration party at St. Pete’s MetroCan Grand Hall (3251 3rd Ave. N.). “Music, hors d’oeuvres, drinks and very few speeches” are promised. “The only interruption to eating, dancing, talking and drinking will be to announce the winners.” As a former judge for these Awards, I can vouch for the seriousness of the endeavor — we had to see everything — but I can also vouch for the fun of the awards party even if you didn’t see everything.  Sun. 9/22, 7 p.m., $25, free for TTB member, theatretampabay.org.
6. Crossing the Bay: A Concert Version. If you loved Webb’s City, the musical about St. Pete retail mogul “Doc” Webb by Bill Leavengood and Lee Ahlin, or if you’re a fan of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, sounds like you’re gonna love this new musical about a tumultuous romance set amidst the arrival of Big Rail in 1880s Tampa Bay. 7. Orange Grove Dance: “Holding, Here.” HCC Ybor, the unsung hero of local dance programming, brings in a troupe with Florida roots this weekend. The artistic directors of Orange Grove Dance are USF dance grads Colette Krogol and Matt Reeves; their multi-media performances combine athleticism and digital derring-do. Holding, Here, one of two pieces on the program at HCC, won the audience award at a Washington, D.C. festival and was described by one critic as as a “magically spun… visual tale of suspension, tension, and community within a multilayered moving painting.” Fri. & Sat. 9/20-21, 7:30 p.m., 1411 E 11th Ave., Tampa. hccfl.edu.
8. Above the Fold: New Expressions in Origami. The MFA’s fascinating show of contemporary origami art closes Sunday. See it before it folds! Through Sun. 9/22, Museum of Fine Arts, 255 Beach Dr. NE, St. Petersburg, 727-896-2667, mfastpete.org.
9. Tampa Bay Fashion Week. Glam up, y’all. Fashion Week festivities are here, including a VIP party at TIA on Thursday and pop-up boutiques at International Plaza on Saturday. The big event is the runway show Friday night in the Plaza’s Grand Court, featuring local designers like the dependably fabulous Elizabeth Carson Racker plus brands featured at the mall. There’s also a Beauty Drive Friday; drop off new toiletries and beauty products and receive a sweet swag bag while supplies last. 10. Bucs Beach Bash. Time to let your skull flag fly, Bucs fans and hangers-on. There’s a free all-day party just for you on the beach on Saturday, culminating in a concert by Miley’s dad and Lil Nas X’s partner in  summer ear-worming, Billy Ray Cyrus. The fun starts at 11 a.m., there’s a show by  Parmalee at 6 p.m., and Billy Ray comes on at 8, with fireworks following at 9:30.
