If it’s good enough for Paris, Milan and NYC, it’s good enough for Tampa Bay, right?
Fashion Week Tampa Bay, the annual celebration of the region’s top designers and style-makers, is going virtual this year. Festivities begin tonight at 6 p.m. with a welcome from Jorge Alvarado, the high-energy host of The Jorge Show and Mocha in the Morning, followed by a dance party hosted by DJ Lady Shay. The next three days bring panel discussions, workshops and, of course, fashion shows. Attendance is free for all events, but you do have to register on the FWTB site first.
Highlights on Thursday night include a conversation with Karla Hartley about the upcoming StageWorks Stylized show featuring designs inspired by her theater company’s past productions; a talk by Cedric Brown, whose designs are featured in the OWN series Greenleaf; a make-up tutorial, a color styling session, and even a talk on “fashion crypto-currency.”
Friday is the big night, with online designer fashion presentations by the following:
- 6:00 PM: Welcome with host: Jorge Alvarado and DJ Lady Shay
- 6:30 PM: Essence Flowers Designs
- 7:00 PM: Invisa’U Intimates by Bonita Brantley
- 7:30 PM: Alicia Calero Designs
- 8:00 PM: Cheyvonne by A.C. Larry
- 8:30 PM: Elizabeth Carson Racker Designs
Saturday is the final day, beginning at 11 a.m. with a talk by the co-founders of My Fairy Godfathers Foundation, dedicated to helping girls and young women in need; a Models & Mimosas Moments panel at 11:30; and a reprise at noon of the designer fashion presentations.
Kudos to the irrepressible Nancy Vaughn, FWTB founder and organizer, for adapting the annual bash to the new sorta-normal with her characteristic elan.
