Owner Suzan Decker Ross elaborates, “The natural elements in design reflect the beautiful waterfront location in this case.” Examples include a Nautilus shell art, coral lamp, and succulents nestled amongst the silver-leaf branches. Refracted light disperses through the crystal prisms in the chandelier, and a silk slub running through the grass-cloth wallpaper adds an element of sophistication to the room.

A bedroom is another perfect space to bring the soothing coastal flair indoors. Home Furnishings Trend #4: Going Rustic with Barn-Door Inspiration

If you’ve been on Pinterest in the last year, you’ve seen the rise of Mason jars, barnyard gatherings and pastel colors, but more Tampa Bay residents are incorporating this rustic trend into their home with statement furniture pieces. Interior Designer Lydia Mason ex-plains, “This piece is very popular for us. Our clients love the sliding barn door–style and whitewashed wood with the wood top.” Not ready to swap your entertainment center for the trend? Consider adding it in with a smaller piece like a side table or throw pillows.

Home Furnishings Trend #5: Transition By Blending

Homeowners are paying special attention to the flow of their home’s interior and exterior spaces, thanks to well-respected interior designers. This is especially important for homes that open to an exterior space, which is quite common here in Tampa Bay. Principal Enrique Crespo elaborates, “I have one house I designed that opens to the exterior, so I continued the same colors out there to tie the areas together. Outdoor spaces have been evolving over the years with fabrics, furniture and area rugs that look more and more like products used in the interior, which helps create an extension of the inside and doubles as living and entertaining spaces.”

Home Furnishings Trend #6: Being Bold With Balance

There’s a right way to go bold in your home decor, and there’s a wrong way. Some homeowners can make the mistake of going too bold with too many colors, several texture selections and mismatched style. Instead, be bold in one element, like your art selection, but then keep the rest of your space on the classic side. “We developed a sophisticated, clean-line, contemporary yet minimalist design”explains owner Decker Ross. “The neutral color palette enhanced the room’s bold, colorful art selections, as the homeowners support local artists.” The custom-designed wine bar was also made by a local craftsman.
