A to Z: duPont Registry Tampa Bay’s encyclopedia of luxury

“A to Z: The Ultimate Luxury Lifestyles List” is duPont Registry Tampa Bay‘s first-ever compendium of the best our region has to offer for fans of luxury living. The list is organized by category: D is for Dining, R is for Resorts, etc., and under each letter we single out top-of-the-line examples in the category. Return to dupontregistrytampabay.com throughout the summer to see the next letter on The List, or read the entire list (and the entire July/August issue) in its digital version, on a coffee table, or in a bookstore near you.

A to Z: N is for…. Neighborhoods

Walkable streets, distinctive architecture, verdant greenery, nearby shops and restaurants: those are some of the key elements of Tampa Bay’s most coveted neighborhoods.

A to Z: N is for Neighborhoods

Reasonably priced Mid-Century Modern ranch homes and spectacular waterfront spreads with views of the Intracoastal; eateries ranging from world-class chocolatier William Dean to Frank Chavez’s snazzy new Seaweed to the mega-popular brunch spot Maggie Mae’s on the Bluffs; and everything just minutes away from Gulf Coast beaches — all this makes Belleair Bluffs a beauty, no bluffing.

Peaceful, commodious streets lined with venerable shade trees; gracious, beautifully maintained homes; local hangouts like Old Northeast Tavern and Black Crow Coffee Shop and cultural destinations like The Palladium and Sunken Gardens; the glories of St. Pete’s waterfront parks and Coffeepot Bayou; all the attractions of 4th Street and  Downtown St. Pete just minutes away — no wonder St. Pete’s Historic Old Northeast is one of the most sought-after ’hoods in Tampa Bay.

A to Z: N is for Neighborhoods

Has anyone ever walked through Tampa’s Historic Hyde Park without drooling a little bit? Gorgeous, sprawling homes, many of them Arts & Crafts bungalows renovated to historic perfection, line wide streets within walking distance of Bay Shore Boulevard and Hyde Park Village, which is regaining its cred as a shopping and dining destination. The attractions (and the traffic) of SoHo and downtown are nearby, but inside this quiet enclave they might as well be miles away.

A to Z: N is for Neighborhoods

Cross the bridge from Bayshore Boulevard past Tampa General and you’re in Davis Islands, one of the most appealing, neighborly and unusual neighborhoods around. Davis is its own little world, complete with homes both massive (Derek Jeter) and modest, a busy shopping-and-dining strip, and even its own airport (recent site of a memorable edition of dR’s Cars and Coffee). Plus, it’s home to one of the area’s most popular dog parks.

A to Z: N is for Neighborhoods

Downtown St. Pete long ago left behind its sleepy reputation and is now the place to be for dining, drinking, arts, entertainment and an ever-increasing supply of apartment and condo options, not to mention museums (see ????) — and all of it is easily accessible via walkable avenues, from the glitz of Beach Drive to the eclectica of Central. But Downtown Tampa, which was having to sit by and watch as St. Pete captured all the press, is finally coming into its own with the Riverwalk and Tampa Heights, new apartment and condo-dwellers, and the highly promising Water Street project dreamt up by Jeff Vinik and company. Will Downtown Tampa soon be saying “Hey, Downtown St. Pete, eat my dust?” Doubtful, but isn’t it nice to know we now have two lively urban downtowns to choose from?
