Maria Jose Marin set a new Championship record by two strokes with a 14-under, 202, to win the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. With this win, Marin becomes the first champion to represent Latin America in the history of the event as well as the first Colombian to win at Augusta National Golf Club.
The No. 7 amateur in the world, Marin started the final round trailing by one stroke and was three-under on the day through the first nine holes. A 20-foot par save at the par-4 10th hole kept her in contention before a quadruple bogey by 36-hole leader, Asterisk Talley (T-4), at the par-3 12th – combined with a birdie by Marin at the 13th – catapulted Marin into the outright lead.
After adding another birdie on No. 16, the University of Arkansas junior narrowly missed a long birdie putt on No. 18, tapped in, and finished the final round with a 68 to become the second player in Championship history to shoot three rounds in the 60s (65–69–68).
The 19-year-old joins Jennifer Kupcho, Tsubasa Kajitani, Anna Davis, Rose Zhang, Lottie Woad and Maria Jose Marin as Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champions.
Provided she remain an amateur, the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion will receive an invitation to the next five Augusta National Women’s Amateurs, the U.S. Women’s Open, the AIG Women’s Open, the Chevron Championship, the Evian Championship and any USGA, R&A and PGA of America amateur championships for which she is eligible for one year.
On Easter Sunday the annual Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship took place at Augusta National. No other national program does more to promote the game of golf.
If the 90th Masters Tournament proves as dramatic as the Girls 7-9 division of the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals on Sunday, golf fans are in for a treat.
After tying for first place in their division after completion of the three skills categories, 9-year-olds Patricia Kittivat and Riley Huang moved on to a putting playoff to decide the winner.
Kittivat, of Schaumburg, Ill., went first, playing just enough right-to-left break to sink the 15-footer on the 18th green at Augusta National. Up stepped Huang, from Palo Alto, Calif., who proceeded to roll in her putt.
Each player then had a second attempt at the same putt, from the right side of the green to a front-left hole location. This time, Kittivat just missed. An unflappable Huang sank the putt again to applause from the patrons gathered around the green.
“It feels awesome, and I’m really happy about winning,” Huang said. “The trophy was really heavy.”
Huang was one of eight champions out of the 80 participants in the 12th Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals. As the girls and boys went through their paces at each of the skills stations, Masters competitors were never far away. A few early arrivals in the Masters field were hitting balls just down the tee at the Tournament Practice Area. Past champions, including Rory McIlroy and Mark O’Meara, resplendent in their Green Jackets, handed out trophies and posed for photographs with the participants.
First place overall winner, Texas Terry, of the Boys 12-13 group with his trophy at the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club, Sunday, April 05, 2026.
