The 20th annual Storybook Ball at the Marriott Tampa Water Street on May 18 raised a record $572,485 for the operations of the four area Ronald McDonald Houses. Stilt walkers, Dorothy and the Wicked Witch greeted guests, who found the ballroom transformed into the Land of Oz, complete with yellow brick road in the center of the dance floor. At 10 p.m. the Hamburglar appeared, on the hunt for cheeseburgers — and the servers appeared carrying trays of them for the guests to enjoy.

Board of Trustees President Pam Barber and Chairman Edward Ameen presented Lisa Faller and Stacy Howell of FKQ Advertising and Marketing (Clearwater) with the annual Award of Excellence for their contributions to the charity.
Maddie DeJonge (with Dorothy) attended the ball with her parents, Andrew & Joy Dejonge, and her brother, Drew, to give a family testimonial about their experience staying at Ronald McDonald House when Drew was born. Dorothy’s character was donated by Parties with Character; her rendition of “Over the Rainbow” astounded the audience.
