Datz Restaurant opened its much-anticipated outpost in Downtown St. Pete in early June, and owners Roger and Suzanne Perry decided to usher in their new baby with a party for a great cause: the Children’s Dream Fund — in particular, the dream of Brooklynn, a 16-year-old violinist from Dover, FL, who is awaiting a kidney transplant. The 200 guests enjoyed shrimp-and grits shooters, chicken-and-waffle minis and a stream of other goodies, and thanks to ticket sales and tips to guest bartenders the event raised over $20,000, enabling Brooklynn to fulfill her dream of traveling to Austria to visit the birthplace of Mozart. The Children’s Dream Fun makes dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses throughout West Central Florida.
