Pilot Bank, the official bank of the Outback Bowl, hosted its annual Summer Splash weekend for Outback Bowl sponsors and club members at Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel June 1-2. Close to 400 guests had the chance to participate in golf and tennis tournaments and meet football luminaries like former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Jimmie Giles and Sean McVay of the LA Rams, the youngest head coach in modern NFL history. His uncle, Jim McVay, is the president and CEO of the Outback Bowl, which will take place on New Year’s Day 2020 at Raymond James Stadium. Over the years the Bowl has paid $149 million to participating universities and, since 2016, donated $1 million to Bay area charities. Rita Lowman, the president of Pilot Bank, is the current Outback Bowl vice chair and incoming chair for 2020.
