You could feel the energy before you even made it through the doors.
Walking into The Coliseum for the 9th Annual Tampa Bay Food Fight, guests were greeted by cheerleaders setting the tone for a night built around one of Tampa Bay’s favorite rivalries: Tampa vs. St. Pete.
This time, the battle wasn’t happening on a field or court. It was happening in the kitchen.
Tray in hand, guests made their way around The Coliseum, sampling bite-sized dishes from 30 restaurants representing both sides of the bay. The room was packed, drinks were flowing and everywhere you turned there was something new to try. Some of the biggest names in Tampa Bay’s dining scene showed up for the occasion, making it feel like the region’s restaurant scene had been brought together under one roof.
Then there was the ring.
Right in the middle of it all sat a boxing-style ring where Team Tampa and Team St. Pete chefs went head-to-head in a fast-paced culinary battle. With chefs moving at full speed, a crowd gathered around the ring to watch the action unfold. It was part cooking competition, part sporting event and unlike any food event we had attended before.
This year, Team Tampa ultimately took home the win.
Tampa Bay Food Fight benefits Metropolitan Ministries’ Hunger Relief Network, helping provide meals and resources to individuals and families experiencing hunger throughout the Tampa Bay community. So while Tampa and St. Pete may have spent the evening battling it out, everyone in the room was ultimately fighting for the same cause.
Between the incredible food, packed room and energy surrounding the chef competition, this was easily one of the most fun events we’ve attended this year.
Our only advice for 2027? Come hungry.
Registry Tampa Bay will definitely be back and if you missed this year’s Food Fight, put the next one on your list. It’s one of those Tampa Bay events you simply have to experience for yourself.
