When it comes to major sporting events in your own backyard, Valspar is certainly a jewel in the Tampa Bay crown. Thousands come from around the world, and it takes place on one of the loveliest properties in the area. Daily ticket cost is reasonable and it’s definitely worth checking out in person, especially if you’re a golf fan.

The Valspar Championship brings some of the finest golfers in the world to the Tampa Bay area to compete on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort. It’s a high visibility event at one of the area’s most beautiful resorts. There are many events and VIP experiences associated with the tournament including an appearance by country music superstar Cole Swindell, who will be the featured performer at the 8th edition of Valspar LIVE on Saturday.

17th Annual Gasparilla International Film Festival

Opening Night Film –  Cash Out with John Travolta

The Gasparilla International Film Festival is Tampa Bay’s largest celebration of independent film held annually in Tampa, Florida. GIFF has become the most exciting and well-attended film festival regionally and in the Tampa Bay area. There are many great film screenings to catch over four days, so make a plan and enjoy indie film making.

Bloom and Residue by Project Alchemy

The Studio@620 welcomes ‘bloom and residue‘, presented by projectALCHEMY, St. Petersburg’s most innovative dance company and artist Rebekah Lazaridis. Blurring the line between observer and participant, ‘bloom and residue’ calls upon audience members to take part in a sensory feast where dancers seamlessly intertwine with a bewitching visual narrative. This unique dance experience will be presented amidst a creative installation for a fully creative immersion.

Who doesn’t love a mega evening market? It’s so much fun, and in this case, delicious. Over 75 vendors bring you mouthwatering goodies and cool activitiies as well. Some of the things you can expect include a Lion Dance, Karate Demonstration, Robot Dance, Distillery on site, live entertainment by FLO RAW, traditional Asian dance, Arts & Crafts activities, as well as unique crafts for sale by your favorite local makers.

Morean Family Day, in partnership with BayFirst, happens at the Chihuly Collection Garden, and promises to be an artfully fun event for the whole family.  The afternoon will be filled with good food, music, crafts, art stations, and more.

31st Annual Hyde Park Village Art Fair

Coffee & Poetry at Jack’s House w/ Pulitzer Prize Winner Peter Balakian

Peter Balakian

Peter Balakian, winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, will read from recent books and a work in progress at the Jack Kerouac House of St. Petersburg on Sunday, March 24, at 3 PM. Balakian’s presentation at the Kerouac House will also include reflections on Kerouac from conversations with his late aunt, Nona Balakian, long-time editor of the New York Times Books Review. Her conversations with Kerouac in the early sixties were eye-opening to Balakian as a young writer.

Bill Maher

The host of Real Time with Bill Maher on Max brings his ‘in your face’ comedy to Tampa Bay this Sunday. Known for his political observations, which have gotten him in trouble with pretty much everyone at one time or another, Maher makes no apologies for his point of view and takes no prisoners when he aims the lampoon at politicians, religion, political correctness, and more.
