Florida CraftArt, St. Pete
Florida NOW is an exhibition of contemporary fine craft by artists from across Florida, highlighting work in traditional materials approached with fresh vision and urgency. Curated by Holly Hanessian, recently retired Head of Ceramics at Florida State University and a nationally respected artist and educator, the exhibition reflects the breadth and vitality of craft practice taking place throughout the state today.
Presented as part of Florida CraftArt’s 75th Anniversary, Florida NOW is one of two major exhibitions the organization is producing to mark this milestone year. Together, these exhibitions represent Florida’s contribution to Handwork 2026, a national initiative that uses craft as a lens to explore history, tradition, and contemporary practice in celebration of the United States’ Semi quincentennial.

Once again, it’s time for Second Saturday ArtWalk! Find out the many interpretations by 21 local artists in the latest GCAA ArtWorks exhibition, “Growth”, April 30 through May 30. Works include painting, sculpture, collage, photography, mixed media and more. At the reception, you can meet the artists and vote for your favorite piece of art in our “People’s Choice” contest. Enjoy food, drink and live music with acoustic folk, blues and rock musician Kari Kane.
Additionally, a Plant and Garden Art Sale will take place with make-and-take garden projects and a floral arranging demonstration on Saturday, May 16 from 11 am to 5 pm.

Jewelry Making Workshop

This month’s class is on Mother’s Day, so let’s celebrate by creating some everlasting floral jewelry! You’ll be learning a technique to use seed beads and other small beads to create bead flowers that can be wrapped onto a variety of forms to create unique jewelry. You’ll make a floral cuff bracelet and an adjustable “daisy” ring, but there will also be pendant forms too as an alternative option. As always, a large choice of colors will be offered.
