The “ghost with the most, babe” hits the Tampa Bay stage at the Straz Center just in time for Halloween, but only for a short time. Beetlejuice has been a “monsterous” hit on Broadway (and an infamous one in Colorado), about a strange young girl, a newly wed, but newly dead ghost couple, and the weird stripe-clad troublemaker who promises help but brings hilarious chaos instead.

Opening: Xanadu – Book by Douglas Carter Beane/Music & Lyrics by Jeff Lynne & John Farrar
Eight O’Clock Theatre @The Central Park Performing Arts Center, Largo
Based on the 1980 movie musical starring Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, Xanadu has been very successfully (Tony nominated), adapted for the stage. The result is a funny, shiny roller disco love story between Sonny, a starving artist, and Kira, an ancient Greek muse come to life. It’s a magical foray into dream making, music and, of course, disco dancing on roller skates. Add all the colors and disco balls of the late 70s and early 80s, and you have a very entertaining night of theater.
