Britney Coleman as Bobbie

Winner of five Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, Company features some of Stephen Sondheim’s best loved songs –
Ladies Who Lunch, Marry Me a Little, and Being Alive just to name a few. Helmed by three-time Tony Award-winning director Marianne Elliott (War Horse, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Angels in America), this revelatory new production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s groundbreaking musical comedy is at once boldly sophisticated, deeply insightful and downright hilarious.

She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans, a young woman grieving for her deceased sister. The Evans sisters never were especially close, but after Tilly’s death Agnes receives a notebook containing a game scenario created by her sister. She discovers that Tilly was a well-known Dungeons & Dragons player, and that she was passionate about online fantasy gaming. In order to unlock more secrets about her mysterious young sibling, Agnes recruits a “dungeon master” named Chuck to help her understand and grieve Tilly. Chock-full of supermodel elves, dominatrix warrior women, and nasty ogres, She Kills Monsters is a surprisingly sweet tale of friendship, loss, and acceptance.

It’s a weekend of too much deliciousness, multiple musical performances, and lots of fun and games on the beautiful Downtown St. Pete waterfront at Vinoy Park. Can there ever be enough smoky brisket, fall-off-the-bone ribs, or crispy bacon cheeseburgers? Can there ever be enough great music by many multiple bands? My answer is an emphatic NO! Get downtown and enjoy the tastes and sounds of the new year.

**Registry Spotlight Event**

I’ve been writing about PCCA for years and am happy to draw attention to any of their special events. So much artistic success and community pride comes out of this program. That’s why it, and this event, shines brightly in the #RegistrySpotlight

Opening Reception – Four Decades: PCCA Alumni & Faculty Exhibition
Morean Arts Center, St. Pete

Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School (PCCA) has been a premier arts curriculum in Tampa Bay for the better part of 40 years. Graduates have gone on to become stars on Broadway & TV, accomplished musicians, dancers, and behind the scenes professionals. This exhibition celebrates the major contribution the Visual Arts program at PCCA has made to the art world, and specifically, to our community. In 2024, the Morean will host exhibitions featuring PCCA alumni, faculty and current students.  These parts will work together to highlight the past, present and future of the program. This is part of Second Saturday ArtWalk.

NFL Playoffs: Bucs vs. Eagles
Raymond James Stadium

The Bucs are NFC South Champs for the third season in a row and head to the playoffs. The first (Wildcard) round has our pewter pirates going head-to-head against the Philadelphia Eagles at home in a prime-time slot on ESPN Monday Night. Neither team is performing at peak, but it’s the NFL playoffs, so it will be very interesting to see how Baker Mayfield and the boys do. Go Bucs!
