Thursday and Beyond

Resilience & Revolution
The Woodson Museum, St. Pete

As we open Black History Month, The Woodson Museum has opened a wonderful new exhibit. This thought-provoking and immersive experience, co-curated by The Montague Collection and Dr. Cody Clark, will captivate visitors by delving into the rich tapestry of African American history and culture. The exhibition is set to be a beacon of hope, knowledge, and understanding, challenging stereotypes and celebrating the resilience and contributions of African Americans.

Now through March 2024

The Chinese Lady
American Stage Theatre Company, DTSP

Courtesy of American Stage

The Chinese Lady follows the story of 14-year-old Afong Moy, the first Chinese woman (indentured) to set foot in America in the 1800s. She was immediately put on display for a paying public once she arrived in New York – a sideshow. Though it sounds dark, this is actually a comedy – tole with “winking humor and forthrightness.” It’s a beguiling look into this wild journey and the human urge to belong.

Now through February 25th (February 1st performance is a preview performance)

Opening – Whisky & Soda US Premier
The Off Central, St. Pete

Courtesy of The Off Central

History meets (and makes), great theater in Whiskey & Soda, a play set in 1979. Two of the larger-than-life figures of the time, Margaret Thatcher and the great John Lennon are set to meet for drinks in Washington D.C. and the conversation that follows could change the course of musical and political history. Don’t miss this compelling piece of live theater while it’s here!

Live DJs will be spinning tunes and the celebration will be going on all through February, so there is surely fun to be had by all.
