It’s that time again! Time to head North on I-4 and enjoy all the food, rides, headlining concerts, and all the strawberry shortcake you can stuff into your face in a day…or maybe eleven days. There will be some amazing music coming your way – The Beach Boys, Black Eyed Peas, Foreigner, Oak Ridge Boys, The Commodores, and so many more. LAB Theater Project is a non-profit production company focused on producing new works in the Tampa Bay Community. SYD tells a story centered around the Upstairs Lounge arson fire in New Orleans in 1973 and how it intersects with the life of Sydney Trahan, a young nursing student. It’s a story of family, secrets, tragedy, and redemption – a thought provoking theater experience.

Lift Every Voice New Play Festival – Presented by American Stage

The opportunity for playwrights to present their new work is what this festival is all about. Submissions from all over the country are considered. This new play festival includes a week-long rehearsal and development process for each of the final playwrights and their plays, culminating in public staged readings. In addition, the festival weekend includes panels and readings from selected Write on! students. All public events are held March 1-3, 2024.

54th Annual Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts

For half a century, artists and art lovers from all parts of the country visit Gasparilla Festival of the Arts, where the country’s most accomplished artists and rising stars vie for nearly $100,000 in prize money and scholarships. The March 2024 Festival will showcase artists and their work to include ceramic, digital, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, watercolor and wood. This event will also feature the works of local young artists and a weekend full of live entertainment.

Embracing Our Differences

Since 2004, Embracing Our Differences has used the power of art and prose to promote inclusion, kindness and respect. The annual international art exhibition comes to St. Pete for the first time this year at Poynter Park. The juried exhibit consists of 50 billboard-sized works of art, each accompanied by a thought-provoking quotation. Tours will be available throughout March.

Playwright Nan Colton as Mary Cassatt
Catherine A. Hickman Theater, Gulfport

Playwright and storyteller Nan Colton will bring American impressionist Mary Cassatt to life on stage at the Catherine Hickman Theater in Gulfport for a Sunday matinee, March 3, at 4 pm. Mary Cassatt was an American painter and printmaker. She lived much of her adult life in France, where she first befriended Edgar Degas and later exhibited among the Impressionists. Cassatt often created images of the social and private lives of women, with particular emphasis on the intimate bonds between mothers and children.
