Gus is an artist. Vanessa is an actress. Gus wants to be presented in a major exhibition for artists of color, so he hires Vanessa to perform as Balkonaé Townsend, a brash and political artist that will fit the museum’s desire for “new voices.” Everything is great, until Balkonaé takes over and Gus has to deal with the mess he’s made. This plays spins out of control as it explores issues of race, gender, sexuality, and art.

We’ll be celebrating with german cheer, dancing and singing to cooler weather and colder beer along the Hillsborough River downtown at the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park this Oktober 10th, 11th, and 12th. Oktoberfest Tampa 2025 is a time to unwind and make new friends. Learn new customs and sing a few songs. Help us tap the inaugural keg Friday, Oktober 10th, as we open the doors to Tampa’s largest Oktoberfest.

I am a Mistery by Margo Hammond
The Studio @620, DTSP

Written by Margo Hammond, the play is directed by Bob Devin Jones, with performances by Eugenie Bondurant, Michael Gregory, Mary Rachel Quinn and Jim Sorensen who all appear in multiple roles. Beginning on an imaginary set of the now defunct To Tell the Truth quiz show where two female actors and one male actor all claim to be Amanda Lear, I Am a Mistery explores the lives of these multiple Lears. So, who is the real Amanda Lear? “Come decide for yourself at this play about gender matters that will have you pondering whether gender matters,” says Hammond.

Opening Reception – Passing Through
GCAA Art Works, ST. Pete

Passing Through is a national juried art exhibition on view at GCAA ArtWorks during the month of October. In addition to the artwork by 24 locals, artists from Georgia, New York, New Orleans, and California were accepted in the show as well. All media and styles are represented: painting, drawing, collage, photography, mixed media, interactive work and sculpture. This Second Saturday ArtWalk, make sure you stop by the opening reception which will include live music by Leon Barickman. This is a FREE event.
