Ending This Weekend – Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins
TheatreFor, Clearwater
This is a one-actor play based on the life of Texas political writer Molly Ivins. Per Wikipedia, Ivans was an American newspaper columnist, author, and political commentator, known for her humorous and insightful writing, which often used satire and wit to critique political figures and policies. In the tradition of ANN – the great one-woman show based on the life of Texas Governer, Ann Richards, Red Hot Patriot is sure to tickle the funny bone and give us some sorely needed humor as we view of the political world as Ivers saw it.
Now through Sunday, June 22nd

Stop Freaking Out: The Denis Phillips Method to Dealing with Weather and Life
Tampa Fringe Theater, Tampa
Here’s another great event from Tampa Fringe – Denis Phillips is arguably one of the most trusted meteorologists in Tampa Bay. He keeps his cool in the most fraught weather situations and avoids the sensationalism and fear inducing programming that can make a bad situation worse. In this Tampa Fringe presentation, Phillips provides us with seven rules to help guide us through the tropical weather that impacts the area every year. Here’s how to apply these rules to your everyday life, like the band Talking Heads advised us, “as we get older and Stop Freaking Out (or Making Sense)”.
