Limited Engagement – The Cher Show
Straz Center, Morsani Hall, Tampa

You know the old saying – after the nuclear holocaust, there will only be cockroaches, and Cher. Well, she still astounds in look and in sound through six decades as she continues to entertain at almost 80. This Tony Award winning musical at the Straz Center is a limited engagement, this weekend only. It’s a musical documentary of Cher’s amazing life and career that you simply don’t want to miss. The costume changes alone will be worth the price of admission!

Now through Sunday, January 19th

Macbeth

Producing artistic director David Jenkins is well known for pushing the boundaries of classical works and presenting them in new and fascinating ways.  For this Macbeth, he worked closely with the design team as they looked for a way to possibly set this “off-world,” drawing from Sci-Fi — perhaps Frank Herbert’s Dune is the closest point of reference someone might most easily think of. “I think, visually, a style like this might break down some barriers or preconceived notions folks have about Shakespeare. People might often feel intimidated by this stuff, but then I watch them binge hours and hours of content in the worlds of Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones or Dune with no problem. If we can adopt an aesthetic that makes this stuff feel more accessible to folks from jump, why wouldn’t we do that?” Come see innovation on stage starting this weekend.

**Registry Spotlight Event**

As the Sacred Arts Tour continues, the Monks come into the gallery to create a stunning mandala, one grain of sand at a time. That most certainly deserves to shine in the #RegistrySpotlight! It’s absolutely fascinating to watch.

Tibetan Monks Sacred Arts Tour 2025 (3 days left)
Florida CraftArt, DTSP

The creation of the sand mandala at Florida CraftArt has long been a cherished tradition for St. Petersburg and the surrounding community. Over the course of several days, the eight monks will meticulously place millions of grains of vibrant sand into an intricate mandala—a stunning geometric representation of the universe and the enlightened mind. This ephemeral masterpiece symbolizes the impermanence of life and the beauty of creation.
This year, the monks selected the healing mandala to reflect the challenges our community has faced in recent months. Trust me, you’ll find yourself mesmerized by the meticulous work done on the mandala by these religious icons. Check it out.
