Final Weekend: Art by Yasmin Reza
The Off Central, St. Pete

Image: Art by Yasmina Reza

Three longtime friends. One ridiculously expensive painting. Is it art, or is it just the world’s priciest inside joke? As the three women debate the piece and what truly constitutes “art,” they uncover long-held grievances and tension points in their relationships. Can their friendship survive, or will one of them finally draw the line? It’s just 100 minutes of minimalist art, maximalist laughs, and a moving look at what we really see, and forgive, in the people we love.

**Registry Spotlight Event**

I admit, this one is personal, as I have been involved with CP and Arts Annual since the event began. But this one is important for so many reasons, and it is my sincerest hope to see you on Friday night for the last major event in this gorgeous space. Creative Pinellas shines in the Registry Spotlight

8th Annual Arts Annual – Fundraiser & Exhibition
The Gallery at Creative Pinellas

From top clockwise: Ted LoCascio, Gummies; Kate Cummins, Race Track; Jenipher Chandley, Penelope; and Brianna McCord, Bangkok Scoot.

As the county-wide arts advocacy organization, Creative Pinellas has been at the forefront of arts growth in our community for over a decade. Now, defunding by the County Commission has put all that progress in danger. It’s time for everyone who loves our arts community to come together, not to be sad, but to celebrate and to experience some of the best art ever displayed at the beautiful Gallery space.

From the website: The eighth installment of Arts Annual brings together more than 70 of Pinellas County’s most talented visual and performing artists, making this one of the largest and most dynamic Arts Annual exhibitions to date! Visitors can expect a wide-ranging presentation of painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and performance that captures the energy and diversity of our creative community.

Highlights include large-scale metal sculptures by Donald Gialanella; bold, oversized canvases by Kate Cummins; and a new site-specific installation by BASK — a multi-panel work created especially for the Arts Annual fundraiser that will be deconstructed and sold piece by piece during the event.

This year’s Arts Annual is not only a celebration of who we are and where we’re going, but also a heartfelt farewell to The Gallery at Creative Pinellas, which has been home to this signature exhibition since its inception. Join us in honoring the incredible artists, partners, and community who have filled this space with creativity and connection—and in celebrating the bright future ahead.

The Turn of the Screw Presented by Opera Tampa
Straz Center – Ferguson Hall, Tampa

Halloween may be in the rear-view mirror, but there is always room for a classic, spine-tingling ghost story. Based on the creepy gothic horror novella by Henry James, this chamber opera tells of an orphaned brother and sister in an Essex country house possessed by the apparitions of a former valet and the governess he seduced. A new governess is dispatched to look after the youngsters, but with strict instructions never to write to the owner of the house, never to ask about the property’s dark history and never to abandon the children (at least one, anyway). This is no kid’s opera, so you might consider a babysitter for your visit.
