There is a new sheriff in town at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas as Wyndham Clark wins the 2026 CJ Cup Byron Nelson shooting a final round 60.

Clark carded -30 to defeat S.W. Kim by 3 shots and World #1 Scottie Scheffler by 5 shots. Kim was the 54 hole leader going into the final round. He also shot 60 in his second round.

TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, underwent a comprehensive $22 to $25 million renovation spearheaded by renowned course designer, Lanny Wadkins. The redesign introduced tighter fairways, new turf, repositioned bunkers to test longer hitters, and completely overhauled greens to make the course a sterner championship test.

Heavy rain prior to the first round of the tournament softened the course. Players were allowed to lift-clean and place their golf balls during the first two rounds. Wind was never a factor, creating a very scorable golf course.

That does not mean the course was easy. The greens were extremely undulating and severe but a bit on the slow side.

Clark took control of the tournament with an eagle on the par five 12th hole and a 45-foot birdie on the par 3 16th hole.

The 32-year-old, University of Oregon graduate, took home $1,854,000. This is his 4th win on tour. Clark won the Wells Fargo in 2023, and the U.S. Open in 2023. His last win was the weather shortened AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am where he shot a course record 60 in the 3rd round.

Oakmont Country Club banned Wyndham Clark from its property following his frustration-fueled damage to the club’s historic lockers after missing the cut at the 2025 U.S. Open. To lift the ban and regain entry, Clark paid for the damages, made a meaningful charitable contribution, and completed anger management therapy.

Clark later addressed the situation, stating he deeply regrets the incident and willingly followed the club’s conditions.

Clark said he used to look at the negative side of life but has now turned that around and has become more positive- channeling the positives has changed his golf and his life. The results speak for themselves.

Nineteen-year-old Blades Brown earned conditional membership Sunday on the PGA TOUR with a top 20 finish at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

Brown shot rounds of 66-68-65-67 in his 15th start as a professional, securing a category of status called Special Temporary Membership. That status allows him to accept unlimited sponsor exemptions through the rest of the calendar year, but Brown said he plans to continue to play the Korn Ferry Tour, where he’ll make his next start this week at the UNC Health Championship in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Still counting the days to June 18-21 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southhampton, NY. It is the 126th playing of the Championship and it will be epic.

I am starting a new close for Tuesday Tee Time- the best golf tips… Bobby Jones’s ultimate golf tip is simple: “You swing your best when you have the fewest things to think about.” He believed golf is a natural motion, and overthinking mechanics causes tension. To achieve a fluid swing, he focused on complete physical and mental relaxation.

Enjoy your golf.
