Thursday – Halloween
Here are a few different ideas for having a frightfully wonderful Halloween!
Halloween in the Old Northeast
Old Northeast Neighborhood, St. Pete
I lived in the Old Northeast for 25 years and I can tell you, without fear of contradiction, that it is the craziest, coolest, and most “Halloweenie” neighborhood holiday celebration I have ever been part of. The home decorations are elaborate, and often cleverly themed. Every member of the family gets involved. There are masterfully choreographed skits, music, and light shows. It’s something you should experience at least once in your life if you live in Tampa Bay but get there early – parking can definitely be a challenge. I suggest starting on 18th Ave NE (my old block) & 1st St NE and walking East. It always seems to be the epicenter, but you can’t go wrong anywhere in the neighborhood.

Screening of Halloween 1978
The Historic Tampa Theatre, Tampa
It was the beginning of one of the most famously gory movie franchises of all time and launched the decades long career of Jamie Lee Curtis. What better way to enjoy the ‘chills’ of the season than by watching the original Halloween on the big screen in a very old and notoriously haunted movie theater? Or you can schedule one of the theater’s famous ghost tours! If you want to escape trick or treating, this is the perfect way to do it, but don’t blame me if your house is TP’d when you get home…
