We can argue whether it’s Chanukah or Hanukkah or even Hannukah; Newsweek  reported recently that there are eight recognized spellings for the holiday. But however we spell it, the eight-day festival of lights is one of the Jewish faith’s most anticipated celebrations, commemorating a victory over tyranny and the miracle of the Menorah.

The observance at The Mall at Sundial this evening, the second night of the festival, promises to be a joyous one. A free, open-to-all holiday event co-hosted by Sundial and the  Chabad Jewish Center of Greater S. Petersburg, the program will feature a concert by Sam Glaser, The Skyriders High Flying Trampoline Show, a Chanukah Gelt Drop and, of course, the ceremonial lighting of the menorah, led by St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman.

Chanukah in the City: 5:30-7:30 p.m.; menorah lighting at 6:30. The Mall at Sundial, 153 2nd Ave. N., St. Petersburg, sundialstpete.com.
