It hasn’t been all that long since area audiences had the chance to see Fun Home — the Broadway tour was at the Straz in 2017. But Jeannine Tesori and Lisa Kron’s Tony-winning musical based on Alison Bechdel’s tragicomic graphic memoir is such a moving, joyous and sui generis look at a young woman’s coming to terms with herself and the secret life of her father that it’s worth seeing again and again. And it’ll be, um, fun to see what director Karla Hartley (away from her usual home at Stageworks), a cast led by David Mann (so good in freeFall’s Cabaret), and the crackerjack team of designers at American Stage will do with the show in the theater’s intimate environs. 7/17-8/18, American Stage, 163 3rd St. N., St. Petersburg, 727-823-PLAY, americanstage.org.
